Profiling the Nigerian As a Terrorist - The Cultural Issues

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab by his misguided and deplorable attempt to blow up an airline on Christmas Day in the US, thrust all 140 million Nigerians onto the global stage for scrutiny once again for another socially unacceptable behaviour.

That Nigeria has a bad image on the global scene is no longer news. Before him, the 419 scam generation had succeeded in earning us the shameful label of the Scam Mecca of the world. Then there is our unfortunate political evolution that has entrenched corruption and bad governance as synonymous with Nigeria.

Sick display of ill-gotten wealth by military dictators and supposedly democratic politicians further confirmed us as a nation of questionable values. Throw in the Niger Delta militancy, incessant religious crisis and gross bribery scandals spanning three continents and some mega conglomerates and you could safely conclude that the Nigerian nation is a safe harbor for all anti- social behaviour.

Surprisingly however, such a conclusion could not be farther from the truth. In spite of the seemingly endless list of criminal and anti-social characteristics of Nigerians, one of the most definable traits of a Nigerian is a passionate love for life. This trait transcends ethnic, religious and cultural divides and can safely be assumed to be written in the Nigerian DNA.

By nature, a Nigerian abhors death because our cultural orientation presents death as a defeat of destinies. If a Nigerian dies at less than 70 years old, it is a family and communal tragedy. Young deaths are believed to be untimely and thus a stigma that could affect the status of such a family as other families avoids any relational interaction with the one who loses its members untimely.

The Nigerian by nature does not commit suicide. Suicidal tendencies are immediately concluded to be demonic or extraterrestrial influences on such persons. Suicide is not a psychological imbalance to the Nigerian society. It is a satanic oppression which is dealt with by prayers and other spiritual antidotes.

Depression is not a mental state in the Nigerian context. It is a spiritual attack that only God can overcome; not anti-depressants. A Nigerian who attempts or commits suicide stigmatizes his family and generations for life. Nigerians don't marry into a family with a suicide or mental depression case as it is assumed that the tendency could be hereditary.

That is why, as the world tries to unravel the Farouk Abdulmutallab phenomenon, it would do well to search for his motive in everything else but his Nigerian lineage. It just did not come from there because it does not exist there.

It would also be an error to profile the Nigerian along terrorist parameters as it would be a sad waste of time and resources as the Nigerian lacks the moral fibre to hold ideological or religious beliefs at the expense of his life.

Simply put, the Nigerian could cause others harm as long as it does not affect himself or his family but to blow up a plane with him as one of the victims is definitely not Nigerian.

The Nigerian's aggression only goes as far as his life is not threatened. The minute any resistance or activity becomes life threatening, the Nigerian backs off and prefers to live with the injustice than lose his life.

This is what is responsible for the continued oppression of the masses by the political class. The politicians know this trait and capitalize on it to keep holding on to power in corruption, election rigging and bad governance. If the Nigerian valued life a little less, maybe a sustained resistance would have rid us of the incessant politicians whose primary aim is to loot the treasury. But the Nigerian's passion for life has become his stumbling block for progress as he would rather live in oppression than die for principle.

That is why Farouk Abdulmutallab may be Nigerian by birth but definitely not Nigerian by orientation.

The Nigerian culture has high social and communal collateral. In Nigeria, no man is an island. It is absolutely essential to the Nigerian that he be accepted within his social circle. It is this need for acceptance that is the root motivation for scams and criminal activities. The influence of peer status is very heavy on the average Nigerian mind. If a peer is affluent, there is unspoken pressure on his contemporaries to rise to the challenge; thus the trend to cheat, steal or scam to gain social status and acceptance.

In the converse, it is this same social collateral that keeps majority of Nigerians morally upright as it is a stigma for you or your children to be morally corrupt. That is what informed Umar Farouk's father to act proactively by reporting his son's questionable lifestyle even before he did anything wrong.

Even the obviously corrupt do everything to hide their real activity thus the tendency to have cover-up businesses or live abroad and only come home sparingly so no one can scrutinize their activities.

The Nigerian spirit is one of resilience not revolution. The Nigerian spirit is self preservation and not sacrificial. It is the trait that condemns us to our present state of underdevelopment in spite of abundant resources. Nigerians don't sacrifice anything for a common good or goal, especially not our lives. No Nigerian runs towards death in ideological oblivion. It is not in our character.

The natural emergence of supposed 'experts' on the global scene claiming to understand and profile the Nigerian due to Abdulmutallab's botched attempt at terrorism could mislead the world into chasing shadows like Bush misled Americans to chase non-existent weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Looking for an Al-Qaeda base in Nigeria will be an exercise in futility as the cultural environment is too hostile to their ideological motivation.

The world will do well therefore to concentrate its efforts at defeating terrorism on nationals with enough moral fibre to hold ideological views enough to die for it.

We Nigerians don't die for anything or anyone. If the Lord Jesus Christ was a Nigerian, the world would never be saved from sin.

Nigerians would rather live than die for anything. The less than one percent with questionable character may find smart ways to defraud the world but even they want to live to enjoy their loot.

Simply put, Farouk Abdulmutallab does not represent the spirit of Nigeria because Nigerians don't die for anything.

New Baby Must Have: A Diaper Bag

Parenthood brings with it a huge array of new responsibilities, new experiences, and requirements for new products you'd probably never heard of before. Any parent knows that they'll need plenty of diapers, baby food and formula, oodles of clothing, and of course all of the other regular things that can rack up prices like cribs, strollers, car seats, and so forth.

One of the things you might not hear about as a new mom is a diaper bag. Think about it - you don't want to be out in public when your baby realizes that nature has called and not have any way of cleaning everything up, and on top of that disposing of a dirty diaper.

That's where a diaper bag will come in as a great thing to carry around while you're on the go. Not only do most diaper bags come with a changing mat and enough room for baby wipes and diapers, some also come with room for toys, snacks, and other items you'd want to have handy in case you're carrying around a fussy newborn.

These days the great thing is that these great bags offer nowadays is that they don't have to be "plain Jane" in nature; there are dozens of designer lines that provide new moms with fashionable baby purses. If you're an expecting mother, or a brand new mom just remember to check out all of the great options available at your local maternity shop, or go online and do a search there for a great deal.

FOXnewsvid.mp4

Kurt Haskell, passenger aboard Flight 253, tells his story to FOX News, and how officials are discounting him. Shouldn't there be a manhunt for this "well-dressed" accomplice?? Shouldn't his picture from the video be blasted on all TV screens, since he may have helped the patsy, i mean terrorist?? Why haven't they released the video from the airport, or the video from the plane?? Why does this ABC article now admit validity to Mr. Haskell's claim??...abcnews.go.com at the VERY bottom of the article, gee I wonder why... "Federal agents also tell ABCNews.com they are attempting to identify a man who passengers said helped Abdulmutallab change planes for Detroit when he landed in Amsterdam from Lagos, Nigeria. Authorities had initially discounted the passenger accounts, but the agents say there is a growing belief the man have played a role to make sure Abdulmutallab "did not get cold feet."".....Questions, questions...

2009 the Year of the Lie - 2010 the Year of Reckoning

Trying to keep up on current events is hard enough but trying to keep up with the latest fabulous falsehoods, fickle phantasms, feints, fibs, fabrications and flip flops of the far left, Dem's and liberals who now follow the President in metered step is completely exhausting.

The task of following the lies is daunting so I thought I'd just jot down every lie or flip flop that only the President made since he began to run for office. I couldn't keep up with that either. To my surprise I found a few websites that were already engaged in cataloging those lies. One site has a list of over 150 specific lies the President has told in slightly less than two years.

Unfortunately one or two little websites on the backwaters of that vast informational ocean we call the internet doesn't draw very much attention from anyone. With only one TV news agency that still endeavors to tell the truth (Fox) and the other half dozen major outlets doing most of their reporting from the hip pocket of the President, most of America it could be said, is walking in the dark.

Even more disturbing is the fact that many of them prefer to take the walk down liar's lane rather than cutting through the barrage of rhetoric, exaggeration, hyperbole, deviance and political baloney. Who wants to cut through a thick jungle if there's a nice clean paved road to the same destination? The trouble with that easier PC road is that it doesn't always lead to the place a person or a nation wants to be.

Americans who are dedicated to the truth find themselves frantically swimming back to the lighthouse each time another politician, educator, news anchor or mindless minion wrecks yet another ship in this grand old fleet called the United States of America.

If we named our years like the Chinese then 2009 might be called 'the year of the lie.' Those sick of witnessing national shipwrecks have already begun to name 2010 the 'year of reckoning.'

Perhaps it is what caused actor Ben Stein to say recently that he thought President Obama is unconsciously wrecking America all the while he believes he's doing what is good for us all. Perhaps it is the same unconscious drive that brought over a million people to the inauguration of the President in Washington DC, even though not one of them was actually formally invited.

The only way to gather a million people anywhere is to give something away. There is never an empty seat in the audience of the Price is Right or the nightly broadcast of Wheel of Fortune or the venues where Oprah gave away cars to some of those in the audience. The promise made on the day of the Obama inauguration was that 'change' was about to begin. In order to give change a chance, something had to be given away, to the astonishment of those now carefully following Obama's antics, appointments and approbations it seems he is prepared to give the whole country away.

It is said that people who don't want to face the apparent truth simply deny what they see. That may work fine for the simple follower but leaders are straddled with the task of creating an alternate truth for the remaining folks who still want the real answer and for the record itself. Here is where a leader creates a truth to substitute for real events in real time. Sounds like double speak, so let's see if we can find one prime example.

After the attempt to blow up a Detroit bound flight on Christmas Eve the suspected terrorist was taken to hospital and security agencies scrambled to piece together what went wrong. With access to the reports of every major intelligence agency, several days on the beaches of Hawaii to collect his thoughts and an entire nation waiting in the wings for a chance to hear the assessment of the events and what could be known of the suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, here's what we got. Mr. Obama labeled him as an "isolated extremist" and returned to the lavish beaches of Hawaii. This is an alternate truth from what looks like an alternate universe.

We all accept the whimsical notion that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' but has the extreme political correctness of the day finally put truth under the same maxim? Is truth only in the eye of the beholder? In fact some things are just plain ugly regardless of who is doing the beholding. The truth is just like that; it stands on its own with or without anyone's support or recognition. It's OK to see Mr. Abdulmutallab as a terrorist even as we wait for the President to catch up to the truth.

The ugly truth is that we now know that Mr. Abdulmutallab had strong ties to Al Qaeda and should not have been allowed so much as a chance to fly a kite over the United States much less to board an airplane bound for one of our major cities.

The nation seems to be splitting into two camps, one I call the Pontius Pilate crowd and the other is the band of faithful that think truth not only can be known but it was incarnated in the person (Jesus Christ) who said he was the truth (Jn 14:6) Those in the other camp make box office history by attending movies about vampires and avatars then sit around in college classrooms, discussion groups and TV punditry spectacles debating the old Pontius Pilate nonsensical and dishonest retort of "what is truth?" (Jn 18:38)

If someone never knew the truth or if they still need to ask the question of what it is, doesn't it seem that this would be the last person we would want to elect to public office? Not today.

Truth is never relative and it is not born of convenient similitude. Al Gore's inconvenient truth is one such example. In spite of serious dissent from the scientific community, doctored scientific evidence and a biblical promise that global warming will not be what brings down the rise of man it still looks that way, so why give it up?

Cronies of Darwinism fare no better. If we look like monkeys we must have come from monkeys the millions of missing links notwithstanding. The Darwin scheme has seen its better day since the advent of creation science but why give it up?

If we insist on discovering truth by loose associations and mere appearances then what is the difference between Bernie Madoff's robbery of billions of dollars and Barack Obama's nine trillion dollar debt bequeathed to our grandchildren. If it looks like a Ponzi scheme then who should we put in jail, can we say for sure? If we followed the same protocols we did for Darwinism and global warming then we must conclude that if it walks like a duck, if it quacks like a duck then it must be a duck.

Just when we are nearly convinced that we have a duck, we hear a zipper and out of the duck costume steps a man who says just because it looks like socialism, just because it looks like a Robin Hood complex, don't worry it's not socialism or her nasty twin communism, it's really something called 'change.' Here is where we might want to hear someone say amen but we could even settle for a duh if there's a teenager in the house.

The other truth about those who can't seem to identify the truth is that they are never true to much of anything with the exception of their own personal interests.

It is recorded no less than eight times in the four gospels that Jesus said "He that hath ears to hear, let him hear." It is puzzling only because almost everyone he spoke to had perfectly good ears. The mystery vanishes when it is seen that all that is heard that has any lasting value was said to come from revelation. The best example is when Jesus asked his disciples who men thought he was. They offered a few answers but then he asked them who they thought he was. Peter answered that he was the Son of the Living God.

Christ said he indeed was correct but then he said "Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven." (Mt 16:17) Truth was not relative to what surrounds it or what speculations accompany it. According to Christ rather than being relative it was revelational.

When something is revealed it is God breathed and it passes out of the normal spectrum of time. It is not just an old thing from the past or a piece of the future somehow made known in the present. It is from the realm of the eternal. Such truth will withstand every test of time, it will outlast everything cast against it and when all lesser truths become moth eaten memories long since forgotten, the truth of God will be seen to establish a kingdom that will never end.

The last but equally important thing about truth that comes from revelation is that it is always applied truth. It is never general proverbial wisdom or mere 'take it or leave it' moral-isms and pious platitudes. It speaks to one person, a nation or the entire world and does not require the assent of the hearer to be true. It is never truth in the eye of the beholder. Because it is from eternity it crosses generational lines and there is never a time when it is not true, it applies in every moment of time, past, present and future.

Here is one of those truths. Be it president or pauper the Lord hates lies. The source of lies (Jn 8:44) has not changed since the days of antiquity; the result of lies is always the demise of the liar and those who believe those lies.

America was not founded on lies, it has for a time followed a few crafty pied pipers but not for long. It is this great nation that produced great minds like that of Abraham Lincoln. He addressed the business of piping an alluring song to the people to misguide them. Yes, we have all read it at some time or another but let's look at it once again as we start the new year of 2010.

"You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time." Abraham Lincoln (1809 - 1865)

Obama - There Since Cinco De Cuatro!

I've got it- an excuse the Obama administration can use to explain why it waited so long to take substantive action in dealing with the Gulf oil spill, an account that also manages to stick it to George W. Bush: Obama was so busy cleaning up Bush's messes that he didn't have time to clean up the mess in the Gulf!

The timeline of events since the explosion of the British Petroleum-leased Deepwater Horizon oil rig on April 20 reveals a less than flattering picture of the acuity and alacrity of the government in fulfilling its role in handling the crisis.

Three days after the explosion, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs insisted to reporters that the catastrophe would not affect the President's plans to open several microscopic pockets of our vast offshore oil reserves for drilling, the only reassuring result of this debacle.

It is important to understand that in Obama White House Speak, Gibbs' statement is tantamount to announcing, "It's a teeny-tiny spark that'll be put out by morning, and we're not remotely worried about it. Why bow over spilt milk?" The administration that popularized the saying "Never let a serious crisis go to waste" and would love any excuse to backtrack on its recent Democrat-infuriating promise to minimally expand drilling would not have let the opportunity to renege on its promise go by if it had truly apprehended the full extent of the impending disaster.

True, the first Deep Horizon oil leaks were not discovered until the next day, after the Coast Guard had called off its search operation for the missing rig workers. Yet somehow it took until the following Tuesday, a full week after the explosion, for Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to announce that he would be launching an investigation into the incident.

One might wonder whether the department had fully grasped the enormity of the situation even then, given that on the same day, Salazar's chief of staff, Tom Strickland-whom Salazar had assigned to be the "point person" on this issue-set off with his wife for a three-day "work-focused" trip to the Grand Canyon that apparently included a day of "work-focused" rafting.

Days later, when the potential danger of the spreading oil spill was beginning to dawn on department staff, the National Park Service rushed a helicopter to the 55th state to airlift Strickland out of the Canyon and whisk him off to New Orleans.

In the meantime, Homeland Security Secretary Janet "The System Worked" Napolitano, whose department was supposed to be working closely with the Interior Department to address the crisis, told reporters that the Defense Department had no involvement in addressing the spill: "If and when they have something to add, we'll certainly make that known," she snapped.

Just as Napolitano had changed her answer regarding the attempted Christmas Day airline bombing from "The system worked" to "The system didn't work," three days after her disavowal of Defense Department involvement in the cleanup she told "Meet the Press" that the Defense Department had been in the Gulf "from Day One. This was a situation that was treated as a possible catastrophic failure from Day One." (The administration later flirted with the idea of claiming Napolitano had actually said "May One," but then decided even they weren't dishonest enough to pull that off.)

To reconcile her conflicting comments, a department spokesman claimed that in her latter statement, Napolitano had been referring to the presence of the Coast Guard, which had been in the Gulf since Day One.

Yes, the Coast Guard was very probably on the scene since Hour One, since that is their mission whenever such an accident happens at sea. For Napolitano to claim that a search mission by the Coast Guard was equivalent to sending Defense Department resources to the area to deal with "a possible catastrophic failure" is like saying that flight attendants collecting trash from passengers on Northwest Flight 253 reflected the Transportation Security Administration's initiative in helping stop underwear bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab.

At least Obama is pointing the finger at BP for their role in the disaster-a potential conflict of interest, one might think, given the recent revelation that Obama is the federal candidate who has received the greatest amount in campaign contributions from the oil company over the past 20 years.

Normally I wouldn't rag on Obama for failing to address the oil spill crisis sooner, but he brought it on himself when he parachuted into New Orleans as a newly elected Senator in 2005 to make a big show of mouthing off, Kanye West-style, about the incompetence of the Bush administration in dealing with the Katrina aftermath. Obama stepped into this oil slick all by himself, so to speak.

To combine two Kanye West malapropisms: "BP, I'ma let you finish cleaning up the Gulf... But Barack Obama doesn't care about Louisiana jumbo shrimpers!"

Nigerian terrorists False Flags and Patriot Act 3.0.

Nigerian terrorist helps introducing Patriot Act 3.0 Media reports in the US claim Washington knew about the attempt to blow up an American airliner on Christmas Day. The 23-year-old Nigerian, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, who had passed through security at Lagos and Amsterdam, had concealed explosives and was being watched by intelligence services in several countries. It was even reported that CIA officials had prepared a report about the suspect after his father had gone to the American embassy in Nigeria to share his concerns about his sons intentions. Despite the embassy sending a cable to the State Department and the National Counter-Terrorism Center run by the director of the national intelligence, nothing was done to stop the young terrorist, claims RT contributor and investigative journalist Wayne Madsen He [Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab] did not go from the tied terrorist database which contains half a million names to the No Fly list, said Madsen, I think it is a little bit more than somebody just dropping the ball this was not supposed to happen, of course, after 9/11 and the fixes to the US intelligence community. The journalist believes it has been a classic false flag operation. I think not only they did not take the threat seriously, they ignored the threat on purpose, blamed Madsen. Another terror attack, huge problems for travel now, people now have to submit to millimeter wave scanners which would look under your clothing providing an image of basically what ...

Plea deal for Abdulmutallab?? Of Course, If He Coughs Up Some Fake Info on Yemen !!!

USA, January 1, 2010 (Pal Telegraph) - As we have seen so many times in the past conspiracy theories bounce around the world whenever we hear such dramatically presented stories that emanate out of the US and UK media machine. Many times such stories appear to coincide with a political low in a Presidents or Prime Minister career It is at such times that frequently our illustrious leaders, senior advisors or their intelligence organization concoct a diversionary story to attract our attention away from the real issues. Such tactics are well known around the world and unfortunately in some case this becomes the foundation stones for a full on war. The President or Prime Minister will re ignite patriotism as a means off bringing the sheep under the shepherds control. This is normally associated with a massive media campaign to make mountains out of mole hills. In some case our leaders also hide the reasons for going into action as a means of pushing their own flawed foreign policy or to achieve some well orchestrated takeover of someone elses natural resources. A couple of examples of such tactics were by The Three Stooges (Bush Rumsfeld Cheney) when they launched there false flag media campaign on WMDs in Iraq. Iraq as we know was planned well in advance and had nothing to do with WMDs or Saddam Hussein but rather control of their massive oil and gas reserves. Then we had Israel that wanted to get its hands on the vast offshore Gaza reserves and almost nearly pulled it ...

Liberal Syntax - A Noun, a Verb, and a Bush Smear

When conservatives correctly point out that one disastrous terrorist attack and another catastrophic but thwarted attack both happened during President Obama's first term in office, because his agencies either overlooked the perpetrators' jihadist intentions or failed to act on relevant intelligence, liberals respond with an argument that was discredited nearly a decade ago: "But 9/11 happened on George Bush's watch!"

Obama supporters mocked Rudy Giuliani's recent claim to George Stephanopolous "We had no domestic attacks under Bush," stubbornly avoiding Giuliani's obvious implication that he was speaking post-9/11. Until last week, Democrats loved to excoriate Giuliani for making endless references to the terrorist attack that occurred while he was mayor of New York; now they claim he forgets it happened. Which is it?

Conservatives' point is that Obama has forgotten the lessons of 9/11, which Bush did not have available to him until, surprisingly-9/11. The Ft. Hood and Flight 253 attacks happened in the first year of Obama's administration, and 9/11 happened in the first year of Bush's administration, but Obama had the example of 9/11 to learn from, and Bush did not. (Even if you count the thwarted attack by the shoe bomber in December 2001, that bomber tried to strike just months after 9/11, when fully revamped security procedures were not running as smoothly as they are now; also, the bomber used the novel, unprecedented technique of wearing the bomb on his person so that it would not be detected by luggage screeners.)

Obama not only had the example of 9/11, he had seven years in which to witness and debate and vote on the implementation of the policies his predecessor devised to successfully keep the country safe for the seven years after 9/11. Obama denounced and campaigned against these tactics every chance he got. He hasn't revoked all of the Bush policies-upon assuming the Presidency, he must have received access to hair-raising intelligence that made him realize the suicidal folly of reversing Bush on everything-but he has slackened up enough, rhetorically and policy-wise, that our security standards have slipped and our enemies have become emboldened.

It is not enough to say that Obama has forgotten the lessons of 9/11-he has actively rejected them. He has argued that doing the opposite of what Bush did will keep us safer. We are seeing how well the Obama Doctrine is working out in his first 11 months in office.

Another error in the "Bush-was-bad-so-Obama's-off-the-hook" argument is that Bush did not do anything to actively facilitate the occurrence of 9/11. In contrast, the Ft. Hood shootings were aided by the politically correct refusal of the U.S. Army-under Commander-in-Chief Obama-to recognize murderous jihadist sentiments expressed by Major Nidal Hasan openly and repeatedly while in medical school and residency, and the promotion Hasan received despite his poor performance reviews. The Flight 253 near-attack was made possible by the Obama administration's refusal to act on numerous bits of information available to it, such as the suspect's father having called the U.S. Embassy to report him, his not having a passport or luggage, and his having bought a one-way ticket with cash.

But there's an even more damning flaw to the contention that Bush should have been able to prevent 9/11, and is therefore as bad as or worse than Obama on national security. Namely: just what would Bush opponents have preferred that he do in his first eight months in office to prevent terrorist acts, when they now scream bloody murder at the slightest suggestion of profiling at airports, when they accuse Bush of being Big Brother for trying to monitor terrorist communications, when they've demonstrated their clear disapproval of any war Bush started abroad to target Al-Qaeda? Are liberals implying that they would have been fine with Bush doing all of these things in a pre-9/11 world? They're not even fine with The One doing these things in a post-9/11 world.

The left have been digging up examples of localized attacks carried out by truly isolated (not Abdulmutallab-style "isolated") loonies-such as Bruce Ivins' anthrax-laced letters to news broadcasters in September 2001, Hesham Hadayet's shooting of two Israelis at LAX in July 2002, the Beltway sniper attacks in October 2002-as proof that Bush didn't keep us safe. Ignore for the moment that when each of these incidents happened, these same people criticized Bush for using these events to "hype" the threat of terrorism to justify extra security measures. Instead ask: what level of government intervention into our lives would have been necessary to prevent every one of these attacks? And how likely is it that liberals would have supported Bush's carrying out such interventions?

Extremely Cheap Airfares - How Hard is it to Find Extremely Cheap Airfares?

Finding the right price for your budget when it comes to flying on an airline can be a tricky proposition. The world of air travel ticketing and pricing can seem like a maze of jargon and red tape that is meant to confuse the customer, rather than make your life easier and more convenient. Even with the issues of modern day flights, traveling by air is still usually the most economical and fastest way to travel great distances. Keeping these three power tips in mind when searching for your next airfare should help you to find the extremely cheap plane tickets your are searching for.

  • Be Very Flexible. It helps a lot if you are not rigid with your travel dates. Also, flying mid-week can add significant savings. Saying over Saturday is not as important as it used to be for getting the best price, but avoiding peak holiday travel dates is very important when it comes to getting the cheapest airfare. Do not forget to check flights leaving from neighboring airports. You might be able to save a lot of money in exchange for driving to an airport a little farther away from your home.

  • Plan Ahead. When possible, always attempt to book your travel at least two weeks in advance. Bump that time period out to four weeks if you are looking at an international flight. Last minute deals can always be found, but if you have to travel, you could get in trouble if no deals are available, and you might be forced to pay a higher fare than is fair.

  • Always Check Round-Trip. One of the mysteries of the universe is that sometimes, the round-trip airfare will be less than the one-way airfare. It is one of those things that goes against common sense, but it happens all the time. Always check both prices when you are shopping for one-way travel.

Finding the best price for your airline tickets can take some work, but by using these three powerful tips can help you to find the absolute cheapest airfare that will meet your travel needs.

If you are looking to save some serious cash on airfares using techniques the airlines do not want you to know about, check out my new Cheap Flights Guide. I wrote this guide after the airlines shipped my job overseas with no warning. So now I'm spilling their deepest and darkest secrets about how to get cheap flights. This confidential information is guaranteed to save you money every time you fly.

Easy Airport Parking Solutions at Newark (EWR) Liberty International Airport

The Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in Newark, New Jersey is part of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which also includes the John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and the LaGuardia Airport (LGA). The New York/New Jersey metropolitan airport system is the busiest airport system in the world after London's. EWR is the tenth busiest airport in U.S. and the fifth busiest international air gateway into the country.

Newark Airport is located 15 miles from Midtown Manhattan. It opened in 1928 and it was the first major airport to be built in the New York metropolitan area. Today, EWR is the second largest hub for Continental Airlines, which operates all of Terminal C at EWR as well as part of Terminal A. In total, EWR has three passenger terminals, which might not seem like a lot, until you realize that terminal A alone comprises four different levels.

Parking at Newark Liberty International Airport includes short term, daily, and long term parking, and there are also a limited number of spots reserved exclusively for passengers with disabilities. Official disabled person license plates or permits must be displayed prominently.

The short term parking is convenient and easy and should be used if you're planning on being for half an hour or a couple of hours. The rates are $3 for the first 30 minutes, $6 for the first 31-60 minutes and $3 for every half hour after that with a daily fee limit of $33.

Daily parking can be found in Parking lots 1, 3 and 4 and the rates are $24 per day on Parking lots 1 and 3, and $27 a day on Parking lot 4.

Long term parking at Newark Liberty International costs $18 for the first 24 hours and $6 for each 8-hour period after that. This is not bad when compared to other international airports, but compared to the prices of nearby, off-site parking lots it's pretty steep. If you choose to park at independent off-site parking lot you can get rates as low as $8 per day along with free airport shuttle service.

The 7 Most Vital Travel Accessories

Any experienced travel will have a travel accessory that they couldn't live without, I have decided it was time that someone made a list of the seven most vital travel accessories in the hope that your travels will be more organised, safer, and more memorable.

1. Money Belt: They come in an incredible number of shapes and sizes and not all of them are actually belts! But as far as travel accessories go you will not find any that are more important. Keep your cash, your passport and your life safe and store your valuables in your money belt.

2. Packing Cubes: When travelling you are most likely living out of a suitcase, and not being able to find your camera or your iPod because its lost in your luggage is a problem that you should have on holiday. Packing cubes allow you to stay organised and will mean that you need less time for packing and allow more time for partying.

3. TSA Locks: As far as travel accessories go, they don't get more important than your luggage locks. Unfortunately since 9/11 customs officials in various countries now require access to your luggage at all times, and that means that traditional locks just get cut off. But the TSA locks are approved by the travel authorities and can be opened by customs officials without destroying your locks.

4. Travel Pillow: Most people will say that good neck or back pillow is their most vital travel accessory. Anyone that has been on a 14 hour flight from Melbourne to LA will understand exactly what I mean. Having a sore neck or back can really affect the way that you enjoy your holiday, so think about your comfort when you fly.

5. Pressure Reducing Ear Plugs: This is not a travel accessory for everyone, but for people that have had top fly with an ear infection, perforated ear drum, or even just the common cold will know how painful the change in air pressure can be. These earplugs will control the speed of the pressure change in your ears and as a result reduce discomfort and pain.

6. Luggage Tags: This is the most simple and probably the cheapest of all travel accessories, but if you eve loose your luggage you will thank your lucky stars that you got some.

7. Travel Adaptor: The annoyance of not being able to charge your phone, iPod or digital camera while on holidays is avoided with this handy travel accessory. But make sure that you get the right plug for the country that you are going to; any good travel accessory website will give you a run down of what plug you need for what country.

Travel accessories are there to improve your trip and help you get on with having the time of your life in a safe, comfortable and organised way. Find the ones that best meet your needs and never leave home without them.

Score Dirt Cheap Tickets to New York

The weak U.S. dollar has made it very easy for European travelers to find some great deals on airfare to New York City - arguably one of the best tourist destinations on the planet. You can get cheap airline tickets to New York from London, Paris and almost every major city in Europe, making this a perfect time to finally make that trip to New York City.

Shopping, restaurants and theater are just a few of the things that make New York an awesome tourist destination. Many people have dreams of one day visiting the Big Apple and with the dirt cheap airline tickets available now you can make your dream come true.

Airlines are competing with each other to rake in the Euros and pounds from Europe's travelers and they have their sights set on New York's tourist passengers. Combine this competition with a dollar that hasn't been this weak in decades and you've got the perfect storm for Europe's tourism crowd.

Follow these five tips to get a cheap ticket to New York and have the holiday of your life.

1. Don't travel during the peak seasons of summer and Christmas. You'll find the best ticket prices from February until April and again from September until mid-November. Take advantage of these off peak times for the cheaper airline tickets available.

2. Besides avoiding peak seasons avoid the peak days of the week for travel. Airfare is very different on different days of the week. Early morning and late night flights are also cheaper as they are less traveled. Keep both these facts in mind when looking for dirt cheap airline tickets to the Big Apple.

3. Plan you trip and book tickets at least two weeks in advance. Many times you'll find that tickets purchased in advance will be cheaper. The airlines regularly raise their prices beginning 2-3 weeks prior to the flight. By booking several months in advance you can secure your tickets at the very lowest prices.

4. Look into the different NYC airports to find bargain tickets. New York has three International airports, La Guardia, Newark and JFK, and the prices to each can be quite different. If you don't have a reason to fly into a specific airport you should definitely research the price differences between the three. You could end up saving a couple hundred Euro in the process.

5. Watch ticket prices to determine the trends. Even if you've already booked your ticket you should keep an eye on the prices as some travel agents will credit you the difference should a price decrease after you've purchased. You could knock an additional 10% off already cheap airline tickets this way.

If you've always dreamed of visiting New York then there's no better time than now. The dollar isn't likely to continue declining forever and oil prices will only increase the ticket prices. Take your high priced Euros and pounds and take the trip of a lifetime because ticket prices won't stay this dirt cheap forever.

To find out more about really dirt cheap airline tickets you should head over to the authors website. You'll find out how to get the cheapest airline tickets as well as other cheap travel tips.

How to Get The Best Deals When Traveling By Air

The cost of airline tickets can easily be the most expensive part of your vacation. Even though airfares will take a large portion of your travel budget there are several ways to help keep those expenses under control and we will discus some of the best tricks we have found in the next few paragraphs.

The first thing that you should keep in mind is the fact that it is usually cheaper to fly out of the major international airports. The smaller regional airports will have less competition and as a result the fares tend to be a little higher. The smaller airports may be more convenient because of size or location but you have to consider the increase in the cost of the fares at the smaller facility against the prices which are available at the larger international airports. Keep in mind though that the earlier you are able to make you vacation plans the more likely you are to find reduced prices on tickets to your destination. There will always be seasonal promotions with a few tickets at greatly reduced prices. If your travel dates are flexible and you are searching well in advance of the date you are traveling the chances are very good that you may find some big savings even at the smaller regional airports.

The emergence of the smaller low cost airlines has ushered in a revolution in flying. One of the results of the presence of the low cost carriers is the pressure to drive down the prices of major airlines. If you are traveling out of an airport that is serviced by one of the newer low cost airlines you will normally see the prices of the other airlines are trending downward and it is often possible to get a great price from one of the major airlines at the same airport. Along with a decrease in fares there has been a decrease in the service offered by the airlines. You will now be expected to pay for your meals and at boarding time you are faced with open seating but if you don't mind these changes then you will be able to find the best travel deals at airports that are serviced by the low cost carriers such as Southwest, Jet Blue and several others that service various regions around the U.S.

One of the problems of flying out of a major airport may be the location. In some cases it may be several hours of driving time to the closest major facility and then it's time to start making comparisons. Check the best price of flying out of the local airport and compare that against the cost of getting to the larger airport and the cost of the possibly reduced price tickets that may be available at the larger facility. If you have to drive for more than a couple of hours then you may have to include the cost of a place to sleep before you actually leave on your flight. All things considered you may get the best deal on airfare by traveling out of the regional airport if it is close by and more convenient.

If it is necessary to stay over night by the airport that you will fly out of then a great trick is booking a stay at an airport hotel. This is an especially good idea if you have an early morning flight and don't want to drive half the night to arrive on time. The airport hotel will usually have a shuttle service ready to take you to the airport and as an added bonus these hotels will normally allow their customers to leave their cars at the hotel for the duration of the vacation. The hotel will usually have a safe and secure lot in which you can park you car until you return. This can save you as much as $10 or $15 per day over parking at the airport.

Many of the airport hotels will also include a breakfast in the cost of an overnight stay.

If you can get a breakfast to get started on the first day and a convenient place to park your car while you are gone then this will probably help you get the best deal on airfare for your vacation.
